The comfort of a crackling wood-burning fireplace or campfire on a chilly evening is hard to beat. And spending time around a firepit in your Burlington County NJ backyard is a wonderful way to enjoy a crisp night (but check with your local ordinances first). Once the fire is out, you can repurpose the ash as a natural fertilizer for your garden and as a way to manage pests in your yard.
Here at J.M. Tree & Landscape Service, we have a few options and choices for you for your Burlington County NJ firewood. We sell our firewood by the cord. A cord is a pile of wood which is about 8 feet long, 4 feet high and 4 feet wide.
We offer "Mixed Firewood" in Burlington County NJ, which is a mix of hardwood varieties, and can include Oak, Cherry, Locust, Sassafras, Maple, Ash, Black Walnut, Mulberry, Birch, and more. We also offer individual varieties of wood.
Maple is lighter and is good in a mix wood pile as it is easy to start a fire and produces very little smoke, but burns quicker. So you'll have some maple throughout, but we make sure you're not getting too much of it in your load of firewood.
Cherry is another hardwood that produces little smoke, and it has a pleasant, sweet burning aroma (as does Mulberry). Cherry is one of the best burning woods, but it is currently not sold separately, only available in our mix pile.
Other slow, hot burning hardwoods are Black Locust and Honey Locust.
In the near future, we will have a pile of Pine Firewood, which is very good for burning outside for campfires.
Oak often makes for the best firewood in Burlington County NJ. It produces a slow-burning, hot, intense fire. We have a pile that is only various types of oak, including Red Oak, White Oak, Pin Oak, Black Oak, Chestnut Oak, and more. We also have a pile of Short Oak, which is the same oak as above except we cut it to pieces of 16" or less, which is great for small fireplaces.
Seasoned firewood is split wood that has been left to season anywhere from 10 months and longer, but seasoned wood can mean something different to everyone. We always tell our Burlington County NJ firewood customers how long our wood has been split and sitting for. Sometimes we get customers that call and ask for seasoned firewood that has been sitting for 2 years or longer, but our wood doesn't sit here long enough because it's always being sold. Therefore, we recommended that you get your Burlington County NJ firewood as soon as possible and stack and cover it yourself so it can sit as long as you'd like it to before use, beyond the time it has been sitting at our location.
Our current seasoning time for Oak is 10 months and our Mixed Wood pile is currently seasoned at approximately 5 months. Call for updated information on the seasoned time if you're concerned about this. And remember that while our Burlington County NJ firewood is seasoned, it's left outside in the weather; always call before you need it so you can have it stacked properly for about a week or so before you are ready to use it.
Sometimes we get calls from Burlington County NJ customers for bulkier or bigger cut pieces of wood (for bigger stoves, etc.) With enough notice, we can split and deliver any size wood that is requested by the customer. It just won't be seasoned, as it will be split right before delivery.
We also have tons of Pine logs, which can be chipped up when needed, for fresh wood chips for gardens, stable areas for animals, and more. It also makes a great base for kids' playgrounds!
Wood chips are available for Burlington County NJ customers year-round. Just call to request.
